Ebonyi police uncover plot to disrupt gov elections

The Ebonyi State Police Command says it has uncovered plots by politicians to disrupt today’s governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state. The state Commissioner of Police, Dikko Maigari, stated this on Friday in Abakaliki, the state capital, while briefing journalists on the preparedness of the command for the elections. He said, “Intelligence report at the disposal of the police command indicates that some politicians are procuring the service of all shades of characters to disrupt the elections and assist them achieve their political ambitions. “The result of these self-help efforts has in recent times led to some incidents of grievous harm, arson, as well as willful and malicious damage to property of innocent citizens and perceived political opponents.” Maigari, however, said that over 4,500 police officers had been deployed for peaceful conduct of the election and warned those planning to disrupt the exercise to have a change of heart or ready to face the full weight of the law.
