We’ll dedicate first 100 days to reconciling Benue people — ORTOM

MAKURDI—Benue State governor-elect, Dr. Samuel Ortom, has stated that the first 100 days of his administration would be dedicated to reconciling the people of the state. Ortom who won the election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, spoke yesterday when a group of five former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirants visited his Makurdi residence to congratulate him on his victory at the polls. He said that if the people were united for a common purpose, they could do much more than if they went their
separate ways. He said, “when we assume office, I will dedicate my first 100 days to ensure genuine reconciliation among the people; we would also tap the talents of all the people of the state irrespective of ethnicity, political and religious affiliations in order to enable us make steady progress and move forward as a people. “It is a known fact that you are experienced and patriotic sons and daughters of the state who sought to offer quality service to the people. ”I can assure you that I will rely on everyone of you to deliver and by so doing, I will promote excellence above mediocrity and syncophancy.” The governor-elect stated that his doors were open to the former aspirants who he said were free to offer suggestions about what could be done to move the state on the part of sustainable development as well as draw his attention if he went wrong. Earlier, spokesman of the group, Mr Hingah Biem, had while congratulating Ortom urged him to reconcile the people of the state and initiate policies that would encourage the people particularly youths to respect constituted authorities to serve as positive role models. He said the people of the state had spoken and that they had accepted their verdict and resolved to give him the needed support to enable him succeed. Those who visited Ortom included Dr. Eugene Aliegba, Alex Adum, Ada Chenge, Andy Uwouku and Akange Audu.
