Buhari To Visit Europe Next Week

President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Nigeria
on Monday, September 14, for a three-day state
visit to France.

President Buhari is pictured with other top leaders
during the G7 summit in Germany.
The visit to Paris will afford Buhari to hold
discussions with his French counterpart, President
Francois Hollande, on the war against terror and
two-sided ties between the countries.
The French president was the first foreign leader
to invite Buhari for a state visit briefly after he won
the presidential poll last March.
Presidency sources said Buhari’s route and his
team would be disclosed this weekend before he
leaves for the Euro trip.
Hollande has played an essential role in the war
against terrorism in West Africa, and Boko Haram
in Nigeria in particular. In 2014 he hosted a
meeting of member countries of the Lake Chad
Basin Commission, which improved cooperation
between Nigeria, Chad, Cameroun and Niger in the
fight against the insurgency.
Both leaders will, among other issues, be
expected to exchange visions on the progress
made so far and further support that could be
given to Nigeria to end the terrorism.
Since Buhari’s victory in the March 28 presidential
poll the global leaders line up offers of state visits
for the Nigerian president.
The United Nations is also looking forward to
Buhari’s participation at the 70th anniversary of
the world body in New York this September.
